Abid Sher Ali must apologize to KP people: ANP

ISLAMABAD: Senator Awami National Party Haji Adeel has said that Abid Sher Ali should apologize to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over his statement.

Addressing to a press conference outside the parliament house on Monday, President, Awami National Party (ANP) Haji Adeel and spokesperson senator Zahid Khan said that the ANP rejects the recent increase in power tariff.

Haji Adeel stated on this occasion “ANP strictly condemn the price hike which has taken place in 1st 100 days of government and we have also tabled the adjournment motion in this regard”.

He said Supreme Court (SC) technically intervened against the increase of power tariff, but government increased the tariff through NEPRA. This price hike will bring people on road.

“This increment from previous dates is very high, who will be able to pay bill? WAPDA itself was involved in power theft but after such price hike everyone will steal the electricity”, he added.
Criticizing federal minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali, president ANP said, abusive language by minister will be not tolerated, the tigers have become jackals now, while government’s allies have also showed reaction on the statement of Abid Sher Ali.

Haji Adeel stated, Karachi is at top of the list in power theft and Lahore stands 2nd in this place. It was decided in 18th amendment that half price of minerals would be given to the province from where it will be produced.

If federation will not give Rs 42 billion to us then government and opposition of KPK will direct people to use electricity but not to pay bills, KPK is producing more than enough electricity but we are taking our gas from Attock, he added.

Haji Adeel said that government has paid Rs 480 billion to IPPs, but Rs 90 billion are not being paid to WAPDA. “Punjab is installing Solar Penal, which will cost Rs 18 to 20 billion, but our KPK will not become the part of this project”, senator concluded.
