Civilian killed in terrorist attack on Bannu police station

BANNU: Nearly three dozen miscreants attacked a police station in Bannu town of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Thursday night using rockets and hand-grenades.

Officials said Howaid police station located on the outskirts of Bannu was surrounded by 35 to 40 militants at night who fired rockets and hurled hand grenades on the police station building.

Security forces came to rescue the policemen with an immediate retaliation and the attackers fled away. However, a civilian was killed after being caught in the crossfire.

Militants loyal to Taliban and al Qaida have frequently been targeting security forces, police stations and other government installations across the KPK province and in lawless tribal agencies bordering Afghanistan.
