Foreign investors should invest in Pak energy, education sectors: Danish envoy

ISLAMABAD, Oct 5: Danish Ambassador to Pakistan Jesper Sorense has said that international community should invest in Pakistan’s energy and eduction sectors. Talking to PTV, he said that Denmark was investing 50 million dollars in an educational development programme here. Under the programme, the educational institutions in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federally Administered Tribal Areas would be developed, he added. He said that about 500 schools had already been upgraded to impart education to some 150,000 children. He said that they were also working with UNICEF for training of teachers in Pakistan. The envoy said that Pakistan was an attractive country for foreign investors. Denmark could also cooperate for the development of dairy farms and agriculture in Pakistan, he said. Jesper said that Denmark was helping Pakistan for preparing the medicine to cure diabetes. He congratulated Pakistani people for first democratic transition of power in the country. Replying toa question, the ambassador said that Pakistan needed trade not aid. The relation between the two countries have improved during the last seven years, he added. He said that they were creating awareness among Danish investors about opportunities in Pakistan. A commercial section also has been set up in Danish embassy in Pakistan to boost trade activities, he said.
