Imran warns KPK govt against whimsical decisions


PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf Chariman Imran Khan has advised the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to make governance more transparent in order to facilitate common people so that they could easily get access to justice, better protect their rights and ensure their accessibility to all social sectors.

He was talking to members of provincial cabinet and administrative secretaries at Chief Minister Secretariat during his daylong visit to Peshawar. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, Chief Secretary and PTI Central Secretary General Jehangir Tareen were also present.

He said the laws being formulated by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa govt should not give any space to the wrong doers. He said the resources of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa must be spent on the poor.

He said the govt should discourage whimsical decisions, which were made in the past and those decisions were the source of exploitation of the poor. He said that it is good to see the efforts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa govt that were leading to put an end to corrupt practices and rampant corruption.

The PTI chief said this was not possible because of the political will shown by the political leadership. However, he cautioned that corrupt elements might try to stop the moves made by political leadership of the KPK govt, which was doing all-out efforts for stopping malpractices, irregularities and illegal activities in the province.

He said the set of laws for making governance more transparent, monitoring the governance related issues and detecting the malpractices would lead to an open and transparent governance in the province that will become a glaring example in the history of province.

He wished to search out men of statures to head independent bodies in KPK so that the people’s trust could be won back and such people would certainly have the ability to resist all pressures and therefore would contribute to good and transparent governance in the province.

Imran Khan also express satisfaction over all the public welfare activities planned by the KPK govt in the province and advised to expedite the public welfare and development process in all social sectors.

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak on this occasion said that his govt was going all-out to put an end to corruption and ensure rule of law in the province. He said that supremacy of merit has been ensured at top level and which would have trickling down effect.

He said that he had directed to all the provincial departments for open and transparent governance in all sectors. He said that his govt has taken solid steps to discourage corruption and irregularities adding that a set of laws have been approved by the provincial cabinet and tabled in the provincial assembly for enactment which would set the course of governance on right track and thereafter no one would get a space to involve in corruption and malpractices.

He said that his govt’s ultimate goal is introducing corruption-free governance in the province and there will be no excuse for anyone but would have to ensure and get the goal achieved. He assured that the public money would be spent on public welfare, there will be no spending in any area which have no justification and where there is no public welfare insight. “Strict financial discipline has been introduced in the province and we would not allow any misdirected spending,” he added.
