Khyber Pakhtunkhwa MPAs warn centre not to delay talks with Taliban

Members of treasury benches in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly asked the federal government to initiate talks with Taliban, instead of lingering on this crucial issue. "Government shouldn't show inactiveness regarding the dialogue process mandated by APC to establish peace in the country, said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information, Shah Farman, while addressing at floor of the house, on Friday. He said if federal government didn't come up with the expectation then KP will have its own way on the resolution of the issue of law and order.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly met with Speaker Asad Qaiser here on Friday, wherein the member of treasury benches criticised the federal government for using delaying tactics in initiation of talks with Taliban. The session mainly was on the agenda of paying tribute to Israrullah Gandapur, late law minister, who lost his life during a suicide attack at his 'Hujra' in DI Khan on the eve of Eidul Azha recently.
"We will not let the issue (of law and order) linger on as it is now, would rather take our own steps if we did not get satisfied with federal government action under APC in this regard", said Shah Farman. On the occasion, members from both opposition and treasury benches paid rich tributes to Gandapur for his political acumen and understanding, par excellence, of legal matters and function of the house. The house termed it a loss not just of his family but of the whole nation.

Provincial health minister Shaukat Yusufzai said that, "we request federal government to expedite the peace process after APC mandate on it," adding that KP is a big stake holder and it is on the receiving end in terms of law and order problems He also termed the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif visit to America disappointing. Yusufzai said that, "We were not in need of American aid but there was need of stoppage of drones but the PM disappointed the nation on fulfilment of any need in this regard".

Senior provincial minister Sirajul Haq said that until there is the presence of imperialist powers in shape of Nato forces in the region there would be hardly any chance of peace. He named secret agencies of several countries which according to him were busy working against Pakistan to deprive it of both its atomic power and ideology. He (Nawaz Sharif) make visits everywhere including China and America but can not chalk out frame work for dialogue process on law and order; Haq added saying that, "it is not on the agenda of federal government to work out for peace in KP which is mainly at the receiving end of law and order".

Lutf Ur Rahman, JUI-F law maker said that if America can resort to dialogues for Afghanistan issue than why should not we have the authority to do so. PTI led government in the province should come up with solution through to fetch peace to the people of the province, he added.

Saleem Khan, PPPP law maker said that, "provincial government (KP) puts blame on centre and the centre comes up with excuses. Why there is no progress on the peace process?" he questioned and added that KP government should play its role and put pressure on central government. Mushtaq Ghani, PTI law maker, said that it was the federal government to play its due role on law and order adding that, "with police force we cannot cross into Fata as Fata is federal government responsibility."
