KP Assembly mourns Gandapur

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Wednesday mourned the death of the late provincial minister of law Israrullah Khan Gandapur and paid rich tributes to him. The session of the provincial assembly has been convened on the requisition of the joint opposition to mourn Gandapur’s death and debate the issue. The minister was killed in an attack on his hujra in Kulachi, DI Khan. He was exchanging Eid greetings with his relatives and supporters when he was targeted with a bomb. Soon after the recitation from the holy Quran, Deputy Speaker Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi on behalf of the members of the House and assembly secretariat asked the assembly secretary to lay a bouquet of flowers on the seat of the deceased provincial minister. Some members also laid bouquets on his seat in their individual capacity. Moving scenes were witnessed in the assembly as several legislators were found crying. Later, Mufti Said Janan of JUI-F offered Fateha for the eternal peace of the departed soul. While reading a written note, the deputy speaker told the House that the special session has been summoned on the requisition of the members of opposition benches, and its aim was to debate the situation in the wake of the tragic death of Gandapur and to pay tributes to him for his services.
