PESHAWAR: Keeping in view the prevailing worsening law and order situation in the province and attacks on jails the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Monday decided to form a separate force for the security of prisons in the province.
According to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial Interior Ministry, security personnel will be inducted separately for the proposed force that will be given special training at a centre to be exclusively established for the purpose.
The ministry said that the force will be equipped with latest weaponry and hardware while bullet-proof vests will also be provided to all the personnel.
The provincial government has set up a committee to oversee the implementation of its decision.
The decision followed after a massive jailbreak in Dera Ismail Khan earlier this year in July in which over 250 dangerous militants escaped. Earlier miscreants also attacked Bannu jail and succeeded to release number of militants including TTP top leader Adnan Rashid from the prison.
