KP police directed to launch intelligence led operation

Saturday, October 05, 2013: - Peshawar—The Provincial Police Officer, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Nasir Khan Durrani has directed police officers to launch intelligence led operation against militants in their respective districts. He was presiding over a meeting of all District Police Officers (DPOs) at CPO on Friday. Additional IGPs, Operations, Investigation, Special Branch and FRP, DIG Headquarters, DIG Operations and all DPOs throughout the province attended the meeting. All DPOs gave a detailed briefing of law and order and confronting issues of their respective districts on this occasion. The police chief directed the participants to identify the hub of militants in settled area and launch well thought and well rehearsal combing operation against them. They were further directed that having information about the presence of the militants in tribal belt they should contact with concerned quarters through proper channel for launching search operation against them and a copy of the said letter should be sent to CPO. They were directed to identify vulnerable places for militancy, constitute threat assessment team, workout security plan with consultation of the management and make standing operating procedure (SOP) for its handling. DPOs were directed to prepare lists of the militants attacking police from time to time in their respective area and take action against them.
They were also directed to ensure fool proof security to the foreigners especially the Chinese Engineers working on different projects in the country, co-ordinate with the trader community and adopt security measures of big markets with their consultation, hold meeting with the transport owners and adda manager to check the buses thoroughly before leaving the bus stand and those violating this should be brought to book. The DPOs were directed to prepare lists of robbers and dacoits with the help of SDPOs and give targets to the SHO to arrest these lawbreakers and ensure their conviction from the relevant courts. The IGP categorically made it clear that transfer and posting of SHO was the total prerogative of the DPO and directed them to make a policy for transfer and posting and right man be posted for the right job. They were further directed to make themselves accessible to the lower staff, hold police Darbar within a week in their respective districts, listen to people’s complaints and solve their genuine problems. The were also directed to issue show cause notice to the police employees who are using extra departmental pressure for their transfers and postings as per policy of the CPO. The IGP pointed out that investigation was the backbone of policing and directed the participants to investigate the cases impartially and totally on merit, workout a system and continuously monitor the sub ordinates, corrupt employees should be expelled from the force. The IGP also directed them that every district should identify its issues and workout a strategy for its solution in the available resources. They were also directed to prepare list of ghost employees and adopt professional approach while handling any occurrence by securing the crime scene.
