PPP constitutes organising committees ahead of LG polls

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday announced the formation of organising committees at the divisional level to hold negotiations with other parties for the forthcoming local government elections.

The divisional committees will also compile lists of candidates at their respective divisional level. The provincial president and divisional committees would be authorised to make seat-to-seat adjustment with other parties in the province. The members of divisional committees would supervise election campaign for their party’s candidates at district level.

PPP provincial senior vice president Azam Khan Afridi would be convener for Peshawar division while former federal minister Arbab Alamgir Khan, Baseer Khattak, Mian Yahya Shah Kakakhel, Behramand Tangi, Member Provincial Assembly Nighat Orakzai, Arshad Ali, Ashfaq Khalil, Misbahuddin and Mohammad Jan would be members.

Syed Ayub Shah will be convener for city district Peshawar while Zulfiqar Afghani, Yawar Naseer, Iqbal Mohmand, Tahir Abbas and Akbar Khan will be members.

Similarly, Abdus Samad Khan Toru will lead the committee comprising Shazia Aurangzeb, Zahir Shah Toru, Sher Afghan, Khanzada Hafeez, Zeeshan Khanzada and Asad Rahimdad Khan.

Senator Ahmad Hassan Khan will be convener for Malakand division while Asad Lal Khan, Shakirullah Khan, Zameen Khan, Anwar Khan, Sahibzada Sanaullah, Dost Mohammad Khan, Kamal Khan, Abdul Hassan, Sardar Hussain and Engineer Hamid Iqbal of Shangla will serve as members.

Shamaroz Khan Jadoon as convener for Hazara division will head the committee comprising Ahmad Hussain Shah, Shuja Khan, Tahir Qureshi. The committee for southern district comprising Qalab-e-Hassan, Pir Dilawar Shah, Hameedullah Zahid, Ahmad Karim Kundi, Shaista Khan Baloch and Mehr Sultana will be headed by Sher Azam Khan Wazir.

The organising and district organisations will send the controversial cases to the provincial committee headed by Abdul Akbar Khan, with Faisal Karim Khan Kundi, Dr Afsarul Mulk, Hamayun Khan, Gulzar Abbas as members.
