Some elements opposed to peace derail talk process: KPK CM

QUETTA: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pervez Khatak said on Thursday that elements opposed to peace talk were responsible for attacks on legislators and other politicians.

"Those who do not want peace to prevail in Pakistan and are afraid of revival of peace are behind the terrorism in KPK," the CM said while talking to media persons during his maiden visit to Quetta.

He said that we are at war, which is continuing unabated for last one decade, but force has never been solution to any issues." We are struggling to restore normalcy by means of dialogue process and for the purpose KPK province along with all mainstream political parties have given this mandate to the federation to hold talks with the Taliban," he added.

Khatak stressed that to end violence and maintain peace was a reciprocal process between government and Taliban." There is no seize fire so far, yet the renowned scholars were engaged in finding amicable solution acceptable for both of us", he said.

He said that KPK and Balochistan were passing through critical juncture of hour and needed drastic measures to ensure peace in both provinces.

About PTI performance, he said that we have focussed on introducing reforms in education, health, and other development sectors.
