WCCI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa seeks representation on all BoDs

Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa demanded of the Federal and provincial governments to give a proper representation in all the Board of Directors (BoDs) in order to effectively work for development of women entrepreneurship in the province.

"The chamber has evolved a comprehensive plan for development of market linkages of women entrepreneurs, tackling issues of soft-loans by financial institutions, tax-concessions, while special training programme for building capacity in technical side, would also be launched," said newly elected President of WCCI KP, Rohi Zahir Ali, while explaining key priorities and targets to media persons at the Chamber House here on Friday.
Flanked by WCCI KP vice presidents Dr Musarrat Khalid, Sadia Auranzeb, Mariam Arshad and other executive members, Ms Rohi said the issues were much bigger than its expectations, but she would make all out efforts during her tenure to settle down all those problems being faced by women businesspersons, she added.

She said women had greater contribution in socio-economic uplift and were extending services in organised manner in different fields. The commercial banks were reluctant to make appropriate lending and extending soft-loans to women entrepreneurs by declaring KP as red-zone, which was a great impediment for businesswomen, she added. WCCI KP President said Women Chamber had been providing a one-window operation facility for women entrepreneurs, which was playing pivotal role for addressal of their issues.

Giving agenda and roadmap for resolution of women businessperson issues, she said they would make efforts for development of market linkages and promotion of manufacturing products of women entrepreneurs. Similarly, she said the issue of access to soft-loan would also be taken up with financial institutions, while efforts would also be made for establishment of Research and Development Centre through Export Development Fund.

She urged the government to take the chamber on board before formulating women entrepreneurship policy in the province, and said the chamber would develop better linkages between government and women businesspersons for amicable addressal of their issues. WCCI KP President furthermore said the capacity building, technical supports, tax concessions, building linkages with foreign mission, were included in other key priorities.
