MARDAN / CHARSADDA / SWABI: The third round of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government’s Sehat ka Insaf immunisation drive was conducted in three districts of the province on Saturday. A ban was imposed in all three districts on motorcycle riding.
Charsadda: Minister for Health Shahram Khan Tarakai inaugurated the drive at District Headquarters Hospital flanked by officials of the health department and the district administration.
Addressing the gathering, Tarakai said the drive aimed to immunise a total of 253,000 children across the district. “Around 2,000 police officials have been deputed to provide security to 1,378 teams will immunise children against nine diseases,” said Tarakai. The minister urged residents to cooperate with the teams during the drive.
Mardan: Tarakai also inaugurated the drive in Mardan at a hospital in Shehbaz Garhi after vaccinating several children. Mardan Deputy Commissioner Amir Latif as well as officials of World Health Organization and the district administration were present on the occasion. The police impounded several motorcycles for violating the restriction.
Swabi:The health minister also launched the drive in Swabi at the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Chota Lahor. A number of health officials as well as district administration officials, political activists and locals were present on the occasion.
Tarakai vowed to improve the condition of government hospitals in the province. “The health sector is a sensitive one and no appointments will be made in the department which are not based on merit. Incompetent staff could cause serious harm to public health,” said Tarakai, adding, “Sehat ka Insaf will eradicate several fatal diseases so the people should support it.”
The district administration had also banned the display of weapons for the duration of the drive.
