71 MPs not yet submitted details of assets, liabilities

ISLAMABAD: Despite repeated reminders by the Election Commission of Pakistan, 71 members of parliament (MPs) have not yet submitted the annual details of assets and liabilities of themselves and family members.

These parliamentarians include four senators, 19 members of National Assembly (MNAs), nine members of provincial assembly (MPAs) from Punjab, 11 from Sindh, 22 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and six from Balochistan.

As all the senators who have not submitted the detail of their assets and liabilities, belong to Sindh province, three of them were elected on general seats and one on seat reserved for Ulema and technocrats. They are Islamuddin Shaikh, Syed Faisal Raza Abidi and Syed Mustafa Kamal (general seats) and A. Rehman Malik (elected on seat reserved for Ulema and technocrats).


The statement issued by the ECP also shows the names of 13 MNAs who are yet to submit details of their assets and liabilities.

They include Usman Khan Tarakai (NA-12 SWABI-I), Shehryar Afridi (NA-14 Kohat), Nasir Khan Khattak (NA-15 Karak), Engr Dawar Khan Kundi (NA-25 D.I.Khan-cum-Tank), Amirullah Marwat (NA-27 Lakki Marwat), Muhammad Nazir Khan (NA-40 Tribal Area-V), Nasir Khan (NA-46 Tribal Area-XI), Qaisar Jamal (NA-47 Tribal Area-XII), Asad Umar (NA-48 Islamabad-I), Qaisar Ahmed Shaikh (NA-86 Chiniot-I - Old NA-86 Jhang-I), Mehr Ishtiaq Ahmed (NA-121 Lahore-IV), Abdul Rehman Khan Kanju (NA-155 Lodhran-II), Nauman Islam Sheikh (NA-198 Sukkur-I), Azra Fazm Pechuho (NA-213 Shaheed Benazirabad-II - OLD Nawabshah-II), Sardar Kamal Khan Chang (NA-224 Badin-cum-Tando Muhammad Khan-I - OLD BADIN-I), Sohail Mansoor Khawaja (NA-240 Karachi-II), Shah Jahan Baloch (NA-248 Karachi-X), Maulvi Agha Muhammad (NA-261 Pishion-cum-Ziarat) and MNA Shaheen Shafiq - elected against seat reserved for women.

Members from Punjab Assembly, who are yet to submit the details of assets and liabilities, include Muhammad Sabtain Khan (PP-46 Mianwali-IV), Najeebullah Khan (PP-48 Bhakkar-II), Rafaqat Hussain Gujjar (PP-102 Gujranwala-XII), Ch. Muhammad Asadullah (PP-106 Hafizabad-II), Malik Ghulam Habib Awan (PP-158 Lahore-XXII), Masood Shafqat (PP-189 Okara-V), Ali Abbas (PP-192 Okara-VIII), Waheed Asghar Dogar (PP-224 Sahiwal-V) and Abdul Majeed Khan Niazi (PP-262 Layyah-I).

From Sindh Assembly, 11 members who have not submitted the details of assets and liabilities, include Abdul Rauf Khan Khosa (PS- 18 Kashmore-II - Old Jacobabad-VI), Ghulam Rasool Khan Jatoi (PS-19 Naushero Feroze-I), Syed Faseeh Ahmed Shah (PS-26 Shaheed Benazirabad-III - Old Nawabshah-III), Muhammad Ali Bhutto (PS-37 Larkana-III), Aziz Ahmed Jatoi (PS-41 Larkana-cum-Kambar Shahdadkot (II) Old Larkana-VII), Bashir Ahmed Halipoto (PS-55 Badin-cum- T.M.Khan (I) Old Badin-I), Jameel Ahmed Bhurgari (PS-67 Mirpurkhas- cum-Umerkot- Old Mirpur Khas-IV), Awais Muzaffar (PS-88 Thatta-V), Abdul Haseeb (PS-92 Karachi-IV), Saniya (PS-109 Karachi-XXI) and Mukesh Kumar Chawla, who has been elected against a seat reserved for non-Muslims.

Maximum members (22), who have not yet submitted the detail of assets and liabilities, are from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. They include Ziaullah Afridi (PK-1 Peshawar-I), Yaseem Khan Khalil (PK-5 Peshawar-V), Fazal Ilahi (PK-6 Peshawar-VI), Arbab Akbar Hayat (PK-8 Peshawar-VIII), Arbab Jehandad Khan (PK-9 Peshawar-IX), Syed Muhammad Ishtiaq (PK-11 Peshawar-XI), Khalilur Rehman (PK-12 Nowshera-I), Fazal Shakoor Khan (PK-17 Charsadda-I), Muhammad Arif (PK-22 Charsadda-VI), Muhammad Khan Bahadur (PK-23 Mardan-I), Muhammad Zahid Khan Durrani (PK-24 Mardan-II), Iftikhar Ali Mashwani (PK-26 Mardan-IV), Muhammad Atif (PK-30 Mardan-VIII), Ziaullah Khan Bangash (PK-38 Kohat-II), Shah Faisal Khan (PK-42 Hangu-I), Sardar Zahoor Ahmed (PK-53 Mansehra-I), Muhammad Usmatullah (PK-62 Kohistan-II), Abdul Sattar Khan (PK-63 Kohistan-III), Maulana Lutfur Rehman (PK-66 D.I. Khan-III), Javed Akbar Khan (PK-68 D.I.Khan-V), Muhammad Rashad Khan (PK-87 Shangla-I) and Inayatullah (PK-91 Upper Dir-I).

From Balochistan, there are only six members including Abdul Majeed Khan (PB-13 Killa Abdullah-III), Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal Advocate (PB-22 Harnai-cum-Sibi), Mir Aamir Khan Rind (PB-31 Kachhi- II), Mir Hammal Kalmati (PB-51 Gwadar) elected on general seats and a female member Dr Shama Ishaq Baloch elected on seats reserved for women and Handery Masih, a member elected on seat reserved for non- Muslims.

Under the relevant laws, every member of the parliament and provincial assemblies have to submit detail of assets and liabilities of himself and herself and the family members by September 30.

The Commission after receiving the details waits for another 15 days (October 15 every year) to compile the report and suspend the membership of all those, who fail to submit the details within the stipulated time.

Since October 15 falls as an Eid holiday this year, the action against those, who did not comply with the provisions of relevant law, will be initiated from Friday (October 18).
