Abid Sher Ali asked to tender apology

PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister Sirajul Haq Sunday asked Minister of State for Water and Power (Wapda) Abid Sher Ali to tender apology to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on his statement about electricity theft in the province. The senior minister, while condemning rejecting Abid Sher Ali's statement, said that KPK produced more electricity than other provinces. "The state minister for Wapda should tender apology to people of the province," he added.

Talking to media persons at Al-Markazi Islami, he said that KPK owed billions of rupees to federal government on account of electricity arrears. He questioned as why did not Wapda collect arrears from federal departments first.

Regarding talks with Taliban, he said that the federal government should properly start talks with Taliban so that peace could be restored in the country. Rejecting increase in prices of petroleum products, Sirajul Haq said that it would further enhance inflation.

When asked about holding of local government elections, he said that KPK government introduces a new local government system in the province soon and in this regard, a drafted bill on local government has already been submitted to the KPK assembly select committee so that to make it more people friendly.
