Bomb Blast Targets Polio, Levies Forces Teams in Peshawar


PESHAWAR: Unidentified terrorists has carried out an attack over polio campaigning teams on Thursday via bomb explosion in Peshawar, the provincial capital of the Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province.
Polio eradication campaigners was main targeted in the explosion near Achini round about situated on Ring road of Peshawar, however, the vehicle with their security team’s comprising of levies officials was partially demolished, reports said.
Three Levies officials were injured in the bomb explosion, however, the polio teams escaped safely from the location.

The incident took place on the event when the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is currently present in the city.
Nighat Orakzai, the Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) in KPK, was also present on the Ring road when the incident occurred

While talking to media via telephonic conversation, Orakzai said that the main target was polio campaigners in the attack which could be an intimation from the terrorists to stop their activities in the area.
She observed that some levies officials, who were present in their vehicle, got injured.

Rescue teams have reached the site and commenced their activities while security forces cordoned off the area to start search operation.
