Centre urged to speed up talks with Taliban: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government decides to establish anti-terrorism force

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to establish an anti-terrorism force in the province to counter terrorism in an effective and better way, besides urging the federal government to pace up the peace talk process with Taliban. The decision was taken during a special meeting of the provincial cabinet, which was chaired by Chief Minister Pervez Khattak.

The Chief Minister gave approval to the plan to establish anti-terrorism force, which will be led by Inspector General of Police and comprise members of all law enforcement and intelligence agencies including Army, Frontier Corps and Frontier Constabulary. The cabinet has also demanded the federal government to return the Frontier Constabulary's platoons back to the province so that they can be deployed at sensitive places for controlling law and order situation.

The cabinet also called upon the federal government to pace up the process peace talks with Taliban, as KP is facing the brunt of terrorist attacks. The provincial cabinet has also directed IG FC to deploy elite force at public places. The cabinet also ordered authorities to monitor all Afghan refugees living in the Capital and deportation of those found involved in any criminal activity. The cabinet has also directed property dealers to submit data of the tenants in the city to detect terrorists and criminal elements. The meeting urged the federal government to initiate peace talks with local Taliban immediately, because the anti-state elements are constantly targeting the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
