Ensuring justice: Stern action will be taken against corrupt officers, CJ Khan warns again

PESHAWAR: Speaking at the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy, Chief Justice Dost Muhammad Khan said no corruption among officials of the judiciary will be tolerated as people’s expectations with them are very high.

“Every child in the country is in debt and the practice of corruption is a common menace everywhere in society. In such a situation, people put great expectations on judges and courts as the judiciary is their only hope for justice,” the CJ told participants, adding stern action would be taken against any official found involved in corruption. “It will be better for him/her to quit the profession before we find them,” he warned.

The CJ said the present condition of the province is similar to that of countries that suffered from World War II when businesses were destroyed and no one was willing to invest. “The province is suffering from terrorism for the last 15 years, while influential people are busy in corruption. The judiciary must deliver,” CJ sternly added.

He further said a judicial academy of 90,750 square yards would soon be inaugurated in Regi Model Town, which would be the largest such institution in Asia. It will have its own radio station and a TV channel.

“We were planning to increase the incentives of paralegal staff to 200%,” CJ said, adding they were unable to do that because of the current situation of the province. “The judiciary is still getting better facilities than employees of other professions,” he added.

The CJ distributed training completion certificates of ‘court case management training’ to 30 judicial officers and 50 paralegals.
