PESHAWAR: Journalists Friday ended boycott from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly proceedings after getting assurance from provincial ministers that action would be taken against police officials involved in harassment and torturing of Peshawar-based journalist.
The journalists covering assembly proceedings continued their boycott from the assembly proceedings on the second consecutive day in protest against the harassment and torturing of a local journalist Mir Kamal by police during a search operation against miscreants in the jurisdiction of Yakatoot Police Station a day earlier.
However, provincial ministers, including Shaukat Yousafzai, Shah Farman, Yousaf Ayub and Mushtaq Ghani visited the protesting journalists and assured them that action would be taken against the policemen involved in harassment of the journalist. After that journalists ended their boycott.
