Maulvi Jee Hospital CT scan machine put in store; not installed since two years

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had claim that all the machinery in government hospitals would be used for the benefit of common people but for more than two years CT scan Machine in Maulvi Jee Memorial Hospital was out of the reach of patients of the province, The Frontier Post learnt on Monday. An official of the hospital on the condition of anonymity said that CT Scan machine was purchased for Rs30 million in July 2011 but still it was lying in the store room of the hospital for more than two years as the machine needs express line service of electricity.
He further said that every day patients were coming to the hospitals from far flung areas of the province for the service of CT scan but they went back to other hospitals because of the unavailability of the CT scan service, adding that every day people were enquire about the machine that when it would be functional as the hospital staff were now fed up the public quarries about the CT scan machine.
He said that the company known as Toshiba as the CT scan machine of STN-Super-4 as the company directed them that machine needs full service of electricity and if there was fluctuation then the company would not responsible, adding that we were not taking risk to start the machine with this electricity. When The Frontier Post contacted Medical Superintend Dr. Muhammad Ali Chohan, he said that for starting the CT scan machine we need express service of electricity as there was no fault in the machine but only we need express line service of electricity to start it.
He further said that we had already informed the provincial government as well as requesting the PESCO to provide us express service line of electricity for the hospital but still that process was underway and there was no practical steps were taken that we were able to start the machine for the patients.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf provincial government were always claims that they would provide free health service to all the patients in hospitals as well as Shukat Yousafzai Minister for Health also said in many media talks that they would reused all those machinery which were lying in the hospitals and would use the machinery for public benefits. But the question rise here that for more than two years CT scan machine in Maulvi-Jee-Memorial Hospital was out of the reach of poor people but no official were taking any action to become the CT scan machine useable for the poor patients.
