More than 30,000 KP residents refuse polio vaccine

PESHAWAR: Tens of thousands of parents in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Province refused to allow polio vaccinations of their children during September's immunisation campaign, Dawn reported October 10.

The KP districts of Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi and Battagram were among those recording the most refusals during the campaign, according to Dawn. Peshawar recorded 2,236 refusals, while Mardan, Swabi and Battagram registered 7,418, 4,258 and 4,167 refusals, respectively.

To date in 2013, medics have reported seven polio cases in KP, officials said.
