World Space Week' 2013 concludes

The University of Engineering and Technology in collaboration with Pakistan Space Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) observed a World Space Week 2013, which was concluded here on Thursday. The celebration of World Space Week (WSW) 2013, ended with the prize distribution ceremony held with a wide spread message of generating space awareness among the general public. This year theme was 'Exploring Mars: Discovering Earth.' The students from different colleges and schools of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa participated the event. In his address, Chief Guest Director General Suparco (Peshawar) Muhammad Farooq said that youth were enlightened with scholarly views about space exploration. He highly appreciated the UET students for organising societies including ASME, LDS, IIE and ACE and hosting the event and competitions which were attended by large number of students on Campus. 

Dean Faculty of Engineering, Dr Zahid Mehmood congratulated participants and Suparco for taking interest in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and making UET, Peshawar as an official partner of WSW celebrations. He urged the students to contribute positively for betterment of society. 

Later, the Dean distributed awards and certificates to the winners of various competitions. In Declamation contest Bibi Zainab (Fazaia Inter College) won the first prize while Ihtesham Yousaf (Islamia Collegiate School) and Amina Arif (Jinnah College Peshawar) secured 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively. In 'Poster Making' Sidra Usman and Zojan Noor (College of Home Economics, Peshawar) grabbed first while Durdaana Khan and Amber Sadiq and Urooj Sadiq (Jinnah College, Peshawar) secured 2nd and 3rd positions.
