TCKP planning multiple activities for youth

Tourism Corporation Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) has devised number of activities for youth under different phases in various districts of the province. "We have designed a number of activities for youth in the first phase, which was held in collaboration with District Youth Advisory Boards," said Zahra Alam, an official of TCKP.

Under the preliminary phase, she said, a number of events including Jashn-e-Chitral, Camp Training and cleanliness drive at Malam Jabba, Students' field trip to Jahanabad Buddha and Train Excursion to Attock Khurd took place for youth following the directives of KP Minister Tourism Mehmood Khan and Secretary Tourism Tarik Jamil. She said that students from different public and private sector institutes participated in those events along with many youth organisations of the province. "The aim of these events is to promote awareness about the rich heritage and beautiful topography of our province," she added.

The second phase of that initiative, she said, had been planned for Abbottabad and Manshera Districts, where a Lake Saiful Muluk cleanliness drive would feature students from the Department of Tourism and Environmental Studies of Hazara University, local schools, stakeholders and media representatives. It would be held from October 26 to 28.

Similarly, she said, another event including trekking from Thandiyani to Nathiagali by the students from Comsats University would be held on October 30 to 31. The final event is titled Mushkpuri Trek. Girl students from different colleges of Abbottabad will participate in the two-day event on November 4 and 5. During the organisational meeting, Tarik Jamil, KP Secretary for Tourism Corporation said, "Tourism is an environmentally dependent activity and the youth must not only understand, appreciate and conserve its rich heritage but also work towards preserving the depleting natural resources. It is also important to initiate the environmentally friendly projects along with sustainable development and ecotourism." The Minister Tourism said "the event is planned to promote healthy activities among the youth and to create environmental awareness." He further stated the need to preserve the province's inherent assets for future generation."
