KP minister dubs Wapda as ‘biggest thief’

Minister for Industries Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shaukat Yusufzai has termed Wapda the biggest thief and demanded the latter pay the KPK Rs 47 billions in term of royalty.

Speaking at Meet the Press programme at the Lahore Press Club on Thursday, the KPK minister also termed State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali a mentally sick person and advised the Prime Minister to pay attention towards his mental health.

The KPK provincial minister said that, on the one hand, the province was combating terrorism whereas, on the other hand, its people were declared ‘electricity thieves.’

Shaukat Yusufzai stated that Wapda itself was the greatest thief as it was not paying Rs 47 billion per year in term of royalty to the KPK. He said Wapda should at once pay the amount so that the KPK government could curb the issue of load-shedding faced by the people.
He said Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif had promised to end load shedding within six months but he could not produce even a single megawatt of electricity. He said the KPK on the other hand was not only generating electricity but also providing it to the Centre. Despite this fact, the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were facing 18 to 20 hours of load shedding. It seemed as if they were subjected to step-motherly treatment, he added. The KPK minister said dialogue was the only solution to defeat the prevailing threat of terrorism. He said former KPK government had sold the province for $47 billions and the recent press conference of Azam Hoti had also proved this fact. He said before the PTI government in the KPK, the areas of the province had become no go areas but the party had done several reforms to improve the situation. He said that the KPK government had initiated free of cost angiography, angioplasty, first even insulin bank in the country, kidney transplantation besides ensuring free treatment to the patients anywhere in the province. President Lahore Press Club Arshed Ansari and member Governing Body Khwaja Naseer were also present on the occasion.
