ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department Thursday predicted chances of rain and dust-storm at scattered places of upper Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan during the next 24 hours.
An official of PMD informed that the westerly weather system presently prevailing in Afghanistan would move to the upper parts of the country and cause rain at scattered places. There are also chances of rain in the Southern Punjab.
However the weather would remain dry in different parts of the country especially the plain areas from Saturday till next few days and day temperature would slightly increase. The weather system would move from upper areas to Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan and cause rain on Saturday.
The highest maximum temperatures recorded in Shaheed Benazirabad and Chhor was 44 C, Mithi and Hyderabad 42C.
The maximum temperatures in the other cities were Islamabad 26 C, Lahore 34 C, Karachi 35 C, Peshawar 29 C, Quetta 27 C, Skardu 15 C, Murree 16 C, Muzaffarabad 20 C, Gilgit 20 C, Faisalabad 34 C, Multan 36 C and Hyderabad 42 C.
The chief amount of rainfall recorded was Lahore PBO 21 mm, Dir 20, Lahore Airport, Gujrat 19, Chakwal, Kalam 18, Faisalabad 15, Malamjaba, Sialkot Airport 14, Sargodha 12, Sialkot Cantt 11, Mangla, Drosh 10, Joharabad 9, Mandibahaudin, Balakot 8 and Muzaffarabad, Lower Dir, Mirkhani and Rawalakot 7 mm.
The rainfall recorded in Murree was 5 mm, Gujranwala, Kakul 4, Jhelum, Saidu Sharif, Chitral 3, Astore 2 and traces in Bunji, Chilas, Kohat, Noorpur Thal 1, Bahawalpur City, Gilgit, Hunza, Peshawar Airport, Peshawar City, Rahim Yar Khan, Rawalpindi, Risalpur, Skardu.
