Efforts under way to make Khyber Pakhtunkhwa dengue-free: Governor

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engineer Shaukatullah has said that indeed the Dengue Fever attack was a third major testing time in life of the people of Swat after having faced with terrorism followed by flood havoc's in a very short span of time. He said that with the grace of Almighty Allah the decease has been overcome to a great extent and no effort will be spared at every level to get the entire province totally free from dengue fever from next year. The Governor was talking at a briefing on spread of decease during his day long visit to Swat on Saturday. He was apprised in detail about prevailing situation in wake of severe attack of Dengue Fever for the last almost one and a half month. The Governor accompanied by provincial Secretary Health, Fakhar-e-Alam Khan enquired after the health of the patients admitted in especially established wards of the Saidu Group of Hospitals at Mengora. MNA, Mussarrat Ahmad Zeb, MPAs, Fazal Hakeem Khan and Muhibullah Khan and were also present on the occasion besides the Commissioner, Malakand Division, Muhammad Afsar Khan and other senior officials of the divisional and district administration.
"There is a need to make constant efforts to take the people along in the ongoing measures to get the province completely free of the problem", the Governor remarked. The Governor said that 24 persons passing away from dengue fever. However, all out measures will be taken to ensure the provision of best care and treatment facilities to the patients, he said. Appreciating the devoted efforts in extending health care facilities to patients suffering from dengue fever and well managed ongoing campaign to promote awareness and educate the people about pre-cautionary measures as well as the steps taken so far to conduct spray and eliminate chances of re-emergence of the dengue mosquitoes, the Governor further pointed out that conveying educating materials to each and every person especially the women folk within houses is quite a big task. The health management authorities will make this possible especially through radio broadcasts. Meanwhile, the Governor was told that the disease is in downing trend since 18th of last month which with 304 intake patients was the peak day and at present 224 patients are still in the treatment process. "Emergency wards are established in both the teaching and subsidiary hospitals of the district headquarter, which are actively engaged in extending care to patients", it is added.
