PESHAWAR: Health Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shaukat Yousafzai has said that the provincial government would establish four Burn Units in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which would start working from January.
This he said in program of World Sight Day observed by Hatatbad Medical Complex on Thursday, The Minister said that it was matter of concern that the previous government were not establish only one burn unit in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as they were now criticizing the government.
He said that the provincial government appointed 500 doctors, 600 paramedical staff as well 300 technician, adding that their first priority is to provide all the facilities to the Basic Health Unit and RHC in remote areas that the people of the province would get treatment on their door step.
The Minister said that after the 2005 earth quake National and International donor agencies were helping Pakistan but still in Balakot area there was no building of a government hospital, adding that the provincial government would also established health unit in Kohistan and other far flung areas that the people of those areas were not come to Peshawar, Abbotabad and other areas for their treatment.
Yousafzai further said that still the attitude were not change in government hospitals and there was need of the hours that we should all change our attitude and worked for the better care of patients in hospital, adding that the provincial government would utilize all resources and would provide health facilities to the people of the province.
On the occasion Chief Executive of HMC, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tahir Khan said that the World Sight Day was observed every 10th of October in the World as this year the slogan of the day was "Get your eyes tested".
Dr. Tahir said that Pakistan Institute Community of Ophthalmology (PICO) since working from 1989 and were working and trained many doctors regarding the diagnoses of eyes patients, adding that all their focus were on the cleanliness of the hospital as well treatment of the patients and friendly environment in the hospital.
On the occasion PICO Head of the department Prof.Dr.Nasir Saeed said that they were organized camp in the provincial assembly some days before and were screen they eye sight of the 50 MPAs, adding that the department was treated around ten thousand patients were diagnosed while street children check up and screening test were carried by the department for the last two days. He said that 13.5 million people across the globe were blind while in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa around 0.7 % people were blind, adding that we should all take care of our eyes and get tested of our eye sight as soon as possible because prevention is better than cure. On the occasion Khyber Medical University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Hafizullah, senior Journalist Saad Ullah Jan Burq and Peshawar Press Club President Nasir Hussain was delivered their speeches on the importance of eyes and its care.
