KPK to have anti-terror force

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police, Nasir Khan Durrani, said that the process for constitution of anti-terrorism force would be initiated within few days.
Talking to reporters here on Sunday, the IGP KPK said that they are giving final shape to salient features for the constitution of proposed anti-terrorism force in the province. He informed that more than 1,500 personnel would be inducted in the force, including 1,000 from existing elite force.
The KPK police chief said the force would have given mandate from intelligence to investigation. He said that anti-terrorism force would be totally separated from the elite force. He, however, said there would be no new recruitment, as already trained personnel would be given more training for induction in the anti-terrorism force.
Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has finalised a new special security plan for provincial ministers, members of assembly and advisers, to avoid any untoward incident after assassination of KPK Law Minister Israrullah Gandapur.
KPK has lost two provincial ministers and six other members of legislative assembly during last two month due to increasing scourge of terrorism in the province. The new security plan chalked out after the demise of another member of provincial cabinet Israrullah Gandapur, who was killed by a suicide bomber at his native village on October 16, when people were coming for greeting Eid at his Hujra.
Under the new security strategy, it was made mandatory for all provincial minister, members of assembly and advisers, to prior inform police of relevant jurisdiction, where they are visiting locality.
According to Inspector General of Police, Nasir Khan said that the security has been revised for the ministers, MPAs and advisers by asking them to prior inform relevant DPOs and SHOs before paying visit to any districts and areas in the province. He further said that relevant police in-charge would be responsible for any mishap in their respective limits.
KPK IGP also urged the provincial ministers, MPAs, and advisers to avoid from any unnecessary visits in any part of the province. After assassination of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa minister for law and Parliamentary affair Israrullah Gandapur, the provincial government had ordered increase in security of ministers, advisers and rest members of the provincial legislative assembly.
PM ASKED TO TAKE UP DRONE ISSUE WITH OBAMA: Jamaat-e-Islami Peshawar chapter has demanded Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif to take up the issue of drone strikes with the US President Barack Obama. JI Peshawar chapter Ameer Baharaullah Advocate said that the recently published UN report has revealed that civilians were being killed in drone attacks. "Now, it is a right time when Nawaz Sharif is visiting the America to take up this issue with the US administration," he added. Baharullah said that the federal government is failed to provide any sort of relief to masses during passage of three and half months rule, as price hike, unemployment and loadshedding were increased in the country.
He said that national currency is also continuously devaluating with each passing day and as a result increase in inflation in the country. "A conspiracy was hatched to downgrade the economy of Pakistan while the power and electricity tariff has also been increased for commercial and industrialist consumers instead of supplying on subsidized rates to them," he said.
Baharullah said that rulers are lacking any effective and concrete economic policy due to which rates of essential routine commodities were shot up in the country. He said that government was further creating problems for poverty-stricken masses instead to resolve their problems.
PAK-US TIES IMPORTANT
Staff Reporter from Attock adds: Pakistan attaches great importance to its relation with the United States and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will discuss enhancing bilateral trade and investment issues during his visit to Amarica. State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed said this while talking to journalists here at his residence.
He said that the whole nation was at the back of prime minister and this visit of the premier will broaden and deepen its relationship with the USA. He said that the PM during his meetings with the US president and other officials would take up the issues of counter-terrorism efforts, economy and energy demands and supply and fortification of bilateral economic and political relations. He said that economic stability is prerequisite for the sovereignty of the country, regional peace and security especially in view of Afghan transition, post scenario after withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan in 2014 and implications of development in the neighbouring country for Pakistan.
The minister said that prime minister will also take up the issues of energy, trade and economic development, regional stability and countering violent extremism.
He said that especially the issue of controversial drone attacks which the US carries out against suspected militants will be also taken up as these attacks are counterproductive and impeding Pak efforts to bring normalcy to its restive areas.
He said that curbing terrorism is on the agenda of prime minister, as its end will guarantee investment resulting prosperity as only peace could guarantee development and strengthening of economy.
To a question about the forth coming local bodies elections Sheikh Aftab Ahmad said that PML-N will nominate its candidates for all the seats across the country and will be victorious with thumbing majority.
