The demand for papaya has increased in various parts of the country, as traders from Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa have purchased the fruit directly from farms in Sindh, a dealer said on Friday.
“There is no study available as how much papaya is produced in Pakistan. Trading scenario; however, suggests that the demand for the fruit is increasing in various parts of the country,” Haji Shahjahan Shaikh, president of the Karachi Wholesale Vegetables and Fruits Market, said.

“The juice of leaf of papaya is; however, too popular to cure dengue fever,” he said, adding that the fruit is available at Rs100 per kilogram in the wholesale market, while it was available at Rs40 to Rs50 per kilogram around two months ago.
