Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (F) Chief, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the 'Taliban are serious' for holding talks with the government. But the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government should not pressurise federal government for initiating immediate dialogue process. Talking to media persons at party's provincial secretariat here on Saturday, JUI-F chief further said that the responsible people should need to devise a mechanism for holding talks with the Taliban.
If the negotiations with the Taliban were not held as per traditional tribal Jirga (tribal Council) system, they will not be a part of this dialogue process, he warned, adding that holding talks with the Taliban is a sensitive issue; therefore, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government should desist from pressurising Centre to initiate dialogue process immediately. "Taliban are serious to negotiate with the government,' JUI-F chief said. He opined that the holding negotiation with them through "Jirga" is the best option for making the dialogue process meaningful.
Commenting of the Prime Minister's visit to the United States, he said the US will not change its policy after a single meeting with Pakistan's leadership. He said the first time a government has taken a firm stand before the US but its results will take some time. Criticising the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf-led KP government, he said that the provincial government is lacking a political experience and incapable to resolve the issues of masses.
Earlier, addressing the JUI-F council meeting, he discussed the local issues, Afghanistan visit and steps being taken for maintaining law and order. The council demanded to approve Local Bodies' Law by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly with consultation of all political parties, instead of imposing foreign agenda regarding local bodies system. The council also authorised all district organisations to negotiate with all political parties for making seat-to-seat adjustment for the forthcoming LB elections.
