MANSEHRA: The Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) on Sunday organised a cleanup day at the Saiful Maluk Lake to preserve its natural beauty.
The event of cleaning the lake, which was part of a series of events being organised in Hazara by the TCKP to raise awareness and preserve the natural beauty and heritage of famous sites and importance of pollution free environment, was attended by over 150 people including 30 women.
Mohammad Ali Syed, the TCKP general manager, told mediapersons that 100 bags of garbage, tins and polythene bags were collected from around the lake. He said local people and hoteliers also took part in the campaign after session of awareness was held.
Member Provincial Assembly Abdul Sattar Khan and Balakot Assistant Commissioner Mohammad Asghar also joined the drive along with their supporters and officials of local administration.
He said Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and Minister for Tourism Mehmood Khan were taking keen interest in preservation of the natural beauty of valleys and tourist spots in the province and this is why the district youth advisory boards were also being involved in such activities and campaigns.The legislator said trekking from Thandiyani to Nathiagali will be held on October 30 and students of local institutions would take part in it.
